Phone power Voip Phone service Review and coupon

There are always new home phone services coming up in the US Market, obviously not as fast as typical VOIP Web based services. With Vonage, Comcast, Lingo dominating the market, the newer companies often offer something unique as value add. PhonePower is doing just the same.

This offer applies to all existing PhonePower Customers and of course new customers. PhonePower is a newest VOIP home phone service company in the USA and you can start enjoying their services for as low as $8.33/ per month which will give you unlimited free calls to USA and Canada.

PhonePower has 2 plans mainly for residential and small business users. It can get confusing to understand the plans with so many features bundled with it.

I highly recommend signing up for 2 year prepay plan for 2 reasons, you get a second line for free which you can use anywhere you like. Secondly, you pay $200 for 2 years, that means your effective rate for 1 month becomes $200/24 months = $8.33 per month. This is probably the best cheapest VOIP Phone service in the USA which makes it a good option for people looking to save money within USA and Canada during this tough times. Recession is catching up on all of us, do you still want to pay $20 per month to services like Vonage? Think again.

During December, PhonePower is also going to offer free international calls to all phonepower users to many destinations (See below).
United Kingdom,Spain,Ireland,Israel,Germany,Singapore,France,Denmark,Greece,Italy,China.

One of the most striking feature of PhonePower is they don't have any monthly contract like all the rest of the VOIP Providers. That means you can cancel their service if you don't like to use it anymore. If you do this within the first 30 days, its FREE so no cancellation fees. However anything after 30 days, will be charged a cancellation fee. However they won't recover the contract fees from you since there is no contract.

If you are a existing customer, please let us know your review about PhonePower. Please no reviews from Phonepower competitors :-) I know every VOIP Provider lurking on this blog :-)

Thats huge and massive for any telecom company. As we all know because being a leader in telecom, reliance can offer their partner rates as close to 1 cent to India. They are currently offering calls to india at 4.49 cents.

Do you live in USA? Don't mind paying a bit for making calls to your loved ones back home? Then this is the deal for you. This unlimited calls offer won't last long. Get in and Grab it.

We always make an effort to find Free VOIP calls to India or pakistan. However, its not easy to find such offers all the time. At the same time, we received massive comments from people primarily in USA that they are ready to PAY a right price for the right product.

I think this offer from JoiPhone is a killer offer. If you are not aware of Joiphone, then let us give you a background of this VOIP/Broadband company founded back in 1999. By 2005, they were one of the largest broaband providers in USA. When sunrocket went bust, we posted a quick alternative solution to Sunrocket. Joiphone was one of the primary alternative to Sunrocket. Why? Simplicity and straight forward approach to VOIP Calls.

If you compare, Joiphone with other providers like Vonage, Verizon etc. No one is offering unlimited calls to India/Pakistan. You buy a service worth $10 per month and use that service to make calls to India. At end of the day, you pay much more than $50 per month since all those calls to India are charged at 8-12 cents per minute.

With Joiphone, you can make unlimited calls to India and Pakistan. That's not all, you can make calls to about 70 countries. YES, you heard it right. No cap on how many minutes you can talk. Talk as much as you want. Just pick up the phone dial your friends in UK, next minute talk to your GF in India :-) Burn the phone line as much as you can without worrying about per minute charges.

With Joiphone, you can make unlimited calls to :
Albania*, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil Country Wide, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, El Salvador (CTE), Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico*, Puerto Rico, Russia*, South Korea, Spain, Thailand Cellular, United Kingdom, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, Zimbabwe and many more.

On top of this Joiphone offers some great features for FREE:

1) Keep Your Existing Phone Number
2) 911 Emergency Service
3) Call Forwarding
4) 411 Directory Assistance
5) Voicemail via Phone/Web
6) Hunt Me/Follow me
7) Block Anonymous Calls
8) CID on Call Waiting
9) Call Blasting- Simultaneous Call
10) Call Conferencing
11) 30 Day money back Gurantee
12) No Contract, Cancel Anytime you want

and many more! This features makes joiphone offers almost business level given away to Retail customers.

IF you don't want to take $39.95 offer, you can subscribe for lower packages which starts from as low as $8.95 per month. That's ridiculously low prices for making unlimited calls.

Honestly, we feel this is the best deal we have seen in many years. What JoiPhone is offering can't be replaced by any exisiting calling card or VOIP service, atleast at this stage.

So if you are worried about overpaying while making calls to your loved ones, why not switch to JoiPhone?

Signup for $39.95 per month. This offer has expired.

VOIXIO offers free worldwide calls

Someone asked me if the Ad-based free calling model work any good for VOIP providers? I would well it seems it does. We found a great new provider who is offering free international calls to anywhere in the world in lieu of advertisements.

First up, Thanks to aditya Sood (Ontario, Canada) for sending over the news. The new VOIP provider is Voixio.

Voixio offers a flash based interface with panels seperated with functionality. One panel is dedicated to advertisements and one panel is dedicated for Making calls. They also offer Video call facility whereby you can make calls using your webcam for video feed.

In plain english, Voixio offers free international calls anywhere in the world in leiu of advertisements. The moment you hit the call button, an advertisement starts running the Advertisement panel. Once the ad is over, the call is placed to the other party.

Lets see how you ca use Voixio to make free calls.

1) when you go to Voixio, a screen will pop-up to enter your username/password, is where you log in by inputting youremail address and password and clicking the LOGIN button and also given an option to register.

2) Voixio will detect the webcams and microphones that are available on your computer and these will bedisplayed when you click the “Camera & Mic” button located under the main video window and to theright of the volume slider bar.

3) You can make calls to Standard domestic and international, landline and mobile telephone numbers or other Voixio users or any SIP address.

4) Of course you can choose to receive calls on Voixio from any other users or SIP address. When you receive a call (either audio or video) the keyboard area is replaced by answer or ignorebuttons for you to select.

5) You can free conference calls between voixio users. You can add callers to an existing conversation (or conference) by making a call to an additional user, thus inviting him/her to the conference.

At this stage, its not very clear about the length of the call. When we tried, our call wasn't placed properly. The call got cut immediately after ringing for about 30 seconds. Although, when we tried USA it worked fine for about 5 minutes. We cut the call ourselves.

This should work just fine for countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

So if advertising dont bother you much, free calls are at your doostep with Voixio. Give them a try and let us know how it went.

MediaRing offers FREE calls from 20Dec-Jan 6

Mediaring- A leading VOIP company has unveiled a promotion to boost their VOIP softphone download/sale by launching this innovative scheme. This scheme is very similar to what Jajah offering this christmas .

According to Mediaring,

  1. Promotion starts on Dec 20, 2006 GMT 00:00 and will end on Jan 6, 2007 GMT 23:59
  2. Promotion is applicable to new MediaRing Talk users only; Sign-up for MediaRing Talk is required.
  3. No purchase necessary.
  4. Unlimited Free calls are applicable to calls made to: Fixed & Mobile: US, Canada, China, Singapore
    Fixed: United Kingdom
  5. To make sure that everyone has an opportunity to benefit from this promotion, each call is limited to 10 minutes. However, there are no restrictions on calling the same destination multiple times.

One interesting fact they put under T&C:

During the promotion period, MediaRing will make reasonable efforts to complete calls but cannot guarantee that all calls will be connected.

LOL...who can give a guarantee when millions are trying to call on a FREE line.

Give it a Try here

Do you like my articles and want more such info about making FREE calls to any specific country, new promotions or reviews about specific product, please comments or contact me by email. I would be hapypy to put it here.

VOIP hack-free calls to more than 40 countries

In my recent articles, i have been constantly updating readers with the new VOIP service providers offering FREE calls to various destinations around the world.

I will definately consolidate the list to make it a quick read.

Now lets look at the new VOIP provider who assured to connect your call FREE to more than 40 countries.

Free Call Planet offers a FREE call (from US Landline, means local call charged) to about 40 odd destinations such as china, UK, Singapore, Germany, Mexico, USA, Australia etc. For full country list, Check their website.

If you are in USA and want to Pay for the local calling charge...then this is how you do it.

  1. Dial one of the numbers :1712-429-8888 or 1712-338-8288 or 1641-297-8888
  2. When the gateway answers, enter your International destination phone number using 011 for international calls and 1 + Area Code for calls to the US, Canada or Guam.

e.g to call UK landline you will dial: 011442526451212 (011 is access code, 44 country code, 252 area code and then landline number).

011 is common for all numbers its their access code must be prefixed for all numbers.

3. Wait a few moments for your call to ring through and then enjoy your free call.

(Mobile users: DO NOT HIT SEND or the green call button to avoid mobile charges. Also do not pull your phone number from your phone’s address book as it will automatically dial your call over the mobile carrier’s network instead.)

Now you must be blaming me that i was a fool to mention thats it a FREE call, when its only for US residence and additionally they will be charged a local calling charge. You are WRONG.

I discovered a HACK for this. Read this hack very carefully.

Even if you are not in USA, You can still make calls using this service.

  1. Read my article on making calls with VOIPcheap
  2. Download Voipcheap
  3. Install & register the app. (Read the article for registering from VOIPcheap available countries hack)
  4. Now you can make calls to USA free of cost.
  5. Just dial 1712-429-8888 or 1712-338-8288 or 1641-297-8888
  6. You will be connected to Free call planet gateway.
  7. Now follow instructions for US callers (see above)
  8. You can make calls successfully.

If you like my articles espcially hacks, please comments and ask for specific hacks.

iCall-Another skype alternative-call US & Canada Free

Many of you are pissed off with Skype's decision to no more offer FREE calls within US & Canada and have started looking out for alternatives.

Although, i have covered many articles about the new alternatives in the market. This one is pretty cool. Its call iCall. It has something unique that many other alternatives doesn't offer. You can call anyone in US & Canada for free using iCall from anywhere in the world.

Anywhere in the world is Outstanding feature. Many other providers want you to be registered or dont provide services to traditional PSTN line countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc.

iCall is definately worth trying. If you like the features and service, you might wanna stick around still you have something else. You can download icall from here

For more info on features, please visit their site

If you like my articles, dont forgot to subscribe or bookmark this page.

Talqer-Another VOIP Solution Integrats skype and gtalk

You have seen many plug-ins and software integrating Skype. However, there ain't many for google talk users who want to make low cost calls to normal landline/mobile via VOIP.

TalQer, is now offering user an integration of Skype & Google talk. If that doesnt fancy you, they are also offering a FREE TalQerin numberin 38 countries for receiving calls as well as free voice and call forwarding facility.

In my opinion, TalQer could be a viable solution for integrating your contacts and making calls cheaper than Skypeout but it doesnt provide a FREE VOIP service at all.

When people are getting used to more and more FREE services, I wonder how TalQer can counter-attack such offers. Although, providing Free VOIP also has it's own issues.

If you want to download TalQer, click here

Jaxtr-A free VOIP Phone foe Blogger-Free Beta Invites

Today I got a invite from Jaxtr for beta testing. Unfortunately, they didnt know that i belong to singapore and this service is currently not available here. :-)

Never mind, but i guess this service is great especially for bloggers when you want to interact with your visitors and even for webmasters when the advertisers want to talk to you directly rather than emailing you. This is a great new way of communicating and adding that interaction to the website/blog. As a webmaster or blogger, you very well know the importance of interaction with the users. I make a point that i reply to all my emails and comments posted on the blog. Although, i hardly miss any, it's still a good idea to provide a directcall function.

One of the few benefits, I can tell without even using the service is masking your own number for callers. Caller will never get to know your real number, they will be calling you from the little widget you put on your website/blog. Additional, features include blocking annoying users. I am sure you will find loads of other competitors who would love to annoy you.lol...just block them.

This is definately a must have for all bloggers/webmasters. Jaxtr currently gives 100 minutes of free incoming calls per month. Facility to forward your calls to Voice mail.

Jaxtr curerently supports Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Guam, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States and Virgin Islands and they promise to add more countries in future.

I am sure most of you will be interested in this service. However I am going to run a competition to give-away FREE Jaxtr invites. Those who will "Link and write about this post" on their blog will get a FREE Jaxtr invite.

Drop comments with ur link and email id to get Jaxtr Invites.

Fring enables VOIP on N95

You must have read the recent news about mobile operators disabling VOIP (SIP) features on Nokia N95. Perhaps most of you are already puzzled on whether to buy a mobile with disabled VOIP features. Here is the great news for all of you. Fring, a leading mobile VOIP company has an answer to "Manipulative" Mobile operators. Fring enables N95 with all Mobile VOIP functionality even on a disabled N95 phone. That sounds great. Jon at Fring has sent me a descriptive email explaining how they manage to break through the disabled N95 phones.

fring can mVoIP on any N95 handset because fring manages the VoIP configuration independent of the operator or VoIP settings. What these operators did was simply disable or hide the Internet settings from the specific handsets they distribute. This means that on these specific models from those operators, unless you install a client like fring, you can’t configure VoIP telephony services. Because fring works independent of the operator or VoIP settings, fring isn’t affected by these limitations.

On top of it, Fring works without a SIM card and and enables SIP even from non-SIP enabled handsets. So if you want to be totally sure that your operator is not charging you for Mobile VOIP calls, just throw that SIM card away :-)

Fring has also posted some nice video tutorial explaining how to use Mobile VOIP with Fring. Check out their mobile VOIP Videos

ALLFREECALLS.net Hack to make worldwide free calls

Another Company, Allfreecalls is offering a free call service for USA customers. Basically it will charge to call their gateway number (712-858-8094) and once you are connected you need to dial 011-country code-area code-Phone number. So at the end of the day, you will be charged for the local call.

I live outside USA, Can I use it?

Yes, you can use it. I thought of intelligent hack (if you post my hack on your blog/website, please give me credits for the same) to bypass only USA numbers calling the gateway number. You need to use VOIP softwares like iCall or Voipcheap to connect to their gateway number. This way you don't have to pay to connect to their gateway and anyone outside USA can also call. Of course, people in USA can also use it to save their local call charges *Wink*

I suggest all user outside of USA should use iCall, since it has better voice quality and connection than VOIPcheap while using this service. Once you are connected to the gateway number, you need to use the dialpad to dial the destination number as 011-country code-area code-Phone number. Boom your call is sent to the destination number and now you can talk freely for hours and you won't be charged for the service :P. Sweet isnt it?

One of the visitor, posted a comment/email to me about making free calls to Brazil. Now you can use this hack to make free calls to Brazil and many more countries which typically don't have a free service.

Note: At occasions, the service is loaded, means too many request to the server. In these cases, your call will fail. Out of 10 attempts, it happened about 2 times to me. However, if its FREE, it wouldn't bother much to make another attempt.

You can check their website for more info, like FREE countries etc.. Please drop your comments and yeah don't forget to Subscribe to this blog

Gizmocall-web browser based free call

GizmoCall a SIPphone service has launched a new web-based voice-over-IP (VoIP) service that will allow users making phone calls directly from their web browser. It all based on Flash.

I wonder how many other websites do that. It doesnt seem Jajah used Flash. However, I am not able to find any real difference in using Flash Plugin to make a call. I will do some study and testing and will post some results.

Back to the news, The web based interface allows the users to enter the enter in international format such as (+12221112121) and then click Call. If you dont have a flash plug-in installed (first time users), then it will ask you to install the plug-in. Just install and it will automatically recognise it. Then the call is sent out to the number you wanted to call.

You need to use headphones (or speaker) and mic to talk.

According to the website, Users get five minutes of calling per day to just about any phone number and can double that if they register with an email address. For more calls, users can purchase Call Out minutes. Besides PSTN phones they can call for free google talk users, Windows Live users, Gizmo Project users and any other SIP address/device.

This sounds too good to be true.

Ding-a-ling offers low cost VOIP - A Jajah clone

DingaLing a Canada based VOIP Service provider offering a low-cost (not FREE) calling service around the globe. At the first look at their website, I can see some very familiar interface. The interface is almost the same as Jajah.

Dingaling although doesn't give you a FREE CALL service but offers a very low cost alternative to IDD. To promote the services, the company is currently offering 10 free minutes of calling within North America!

If you want to call from dingaling, you don't need a Microphone or a broadband connection, since all your calls are intiated by your phone. It works similar to Jajah, you only need to put your number and destination number and make a call.

The service will give you a call first and then connect the destination number. Jajah works just the same., however the different is Jajah is FREE & both parties should be registered members. For dingaling, you need to pay but both parties needn't be a registered members.

With more and more companies, offering FREE CALLS, I wonder how Dingaling can gain market share in this competitive market. But a good mix of these companies will ensure that the consumers have more options than the good old and now paid Skype.

Check out their website for more info

TOP 5 Free VOIP Providers for international calls

Today i am going to jot down my TOP 5 VOIP providers for making FREE international calls. The list is purely prepared by me based on my personal experience and its not influenced by any service provider.

1) VOIPcheap - This is the original VOIPcheap and not the UK version of this company. Although VOIPbuster, voipcheap.co.uk uses the same software, i found this software more reliable and voice quality is of high level. This is an straight winner when it comes to making FREE calls worldwide. You can virtually call more than 50 countries on normal PSTN landlines and mobiles in singapore, USA, HK & Canada. With some hacks, you can call from countries which are not listed in FREE list but you have a work around. Check my earlier post for that hack.

Benefits: Clear voice, You can make calls from your PC. No need to buy any credits from them before making free calls. Allows PC or Phone to intiate call (via Directdial)

Drawbacks: really none.

2) Jajah: I tried jajah about 1 month back and with their FREE minutes i made calls to India. The difference between jajah and other VOIP providers is Jajah only allows you to make calls from your phone. That means You need to give your phone number and your calling party number before you can make a call. When you intiate a call Jajah first connect your phone. You pick up the call and then jajah connects to the other party.

Benefits: No software download needed. Just visit their site. No credits needed for free calls.
Drawbacks: Have to use a legitimate number before calling. Cant use PC to make call.

3) Gizmo : Popularly known as " Skype Killer". This software lets you call anyone in more than 60 countries. The only downside is that you and other party both should be registered with Gizmo and should also register your numbers. I am sure that this project will be successful and in short time the daatabase of people will be built and then its a FREE calling world.

Benefits: Making calls is easier than ever, Killer Application interface,
Drawbacks: Requires both parties to register their numbers with Gizmo.

4) Raketu- Pretty decent service which offers FREE calls to 42 countries. I am rating it higher than VOIPbuster/Discount for the very reason thats its not a clone and it uses a diff technology than skype. Skype uses Supernodes which can be vulnerable to hacking. I covered that issues in my blog earlier. Additionally it integrates with Yahoo, MSN messengers etc.

Benefits: Better technology, Clear Voice, 42 countries FREE, Integrate with other messengers
Drawbcks- Haven't found any yet.

5) VOIPBuster/VOIPDiscount: Both these companies are a total rip-off from VOIPcheap. even their softwares are identical and i wonder they are all one company with different websites and company name. But sorry to say they suck at the voice quality. They offer the same service as
VOIPcheap.

Benefits:1 or more additional countries (Thailand + mobile) on Voipdiscount.
Drawbacks: Low voice quality

Please drop your comments about the list. If you agree/dont agree, please let me know. If you have your TOP5 please let us know.

Bangladesh might take action against VOIP

Bangladesh government have warned everyone using VOIP services in Bangladesh. The government feels they are loosing millions of dollars due to VOIP services offering free calls to Bangladesh.

"Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) is the lone legitimate organization approved by the government for call termination and call origination abroad," an official statement says in Dhaka on Monday.
Source: http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7006223535

I wouldn't be surprised if the Indian government issues a similar warning, which they already talked about but didn't take any serious steps. In future, when companies like Reliance, bharati pressurize the government, even this possibility cant be ruled out.

I wonder where the SARC countries are really moving to? Perhaps humiliation and degradation of technology and fascist regulations to support a few money-minder telcos.

Important Info : I have received some emails from people asking me about any voip provider offering calls to Bangladesh free, You guys can try LowRateVoip.com , this service offers free calls to Bangladesh (Landline & Mobile)

VOIPBuster to giveaway unlimited calls for 1 Euro

Betamax releases almost one new company every two months or so, the latest one was lowratevoip. Voipbuster is however one of the oldest of this whole bunch.

Ultimately to hammer down their biggest competitor, they have taken a pretty bold step to attack Skype right in their head. Their current campaign on almost all betamax provider websites such as voipcheap, lowratevoip etc is "skype increased the rate, its time to switch to Voipcheap or voipbuster and so on. The campaign might be different on other websites but the idea is the same.

I wouldn't really want to talk much about their anti-skype campaigns, so lets forget it for the time being, unless its inspires me and deserves a post.

So getting back to the topic, Voipbuster is about to release a new PRO version of their software. According to them, Voipbuster Pro will be the easiest and most affordable way to get the best out of Voipbuster. This all-in-one package will be launching very soon for just €1 per month.
With Skype Pro you can ONLY make national calls for €0 per minute, but with Voipbuster Pro you can make NATIONAL as well as INTERnational calls for €0 per minute!

Holy Cow!!!!!!!!!!!! if thats true, it would be interesting to see if they giveaway FREE Calls to countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries known to have fascist VOIP regulations. If it will come into reality, it will definitely become a big hit. 1 euro per month for a unlimited call is worth, a certain free minutes of Gizmocall each day :-)

Currently gizmocall is the best bet though, if you haven't tried it. Go for it

I will keep you all posted on Voipbuster and its availability. If you read this blog regularly, you wont miss a thing :-)
